24-FEB-2025
From the 24th to the 26th of February 2025, Prof G.M.T Emezue was at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, based on the invitation that she received from UNESCO and Language Technologies for All organizers.
In her presentation entitled “Data Farming and the QRUE Frameworks: The NaijaVoices Experience”, she argues that rather than the current practice of blind generalizations in the application of the Quality, Reliability, Usability and Ethical frameworks for Artificial Intelligence and Language Technologies, there should be consideration of local and regional peculiarities of world languages and people, while proposing these important frameworks.
Furthermore, she proposed that from hindsight, that she and members of her research group gathered in their various projects, the Data Farming concept seems to provide a more beneficial framework when considering research and projects connecting with African languages, data curation, technologies and artificial Intelligence
